RED语言 是一个从REBOL诞生的先进编程语言. 它是一个全栈式编程语言full stack 。 。 语言的作者Nenad Rakocevic远在REBOL3 的源代码发布之前就开启了这个项目. 两种语言拥有一个相同的原理: 尽量精简. 在 RED 和REBOL 中，你可以用接近一行代码完成一件其他语言要用更多行代码才能完成的事，而一个50行的程序在 RED/REBOL中仅需2到4行代码.
同样的，其他语言需要 50 GB 硬盘空间才能开始编程，而RED仅需1MB磁盘空间和一个文本编辑器即可.
当前REBOL还是开源状态, 而RED 拥有不同的来源，它曾经使用scratch编制. 虽然它保持和REBOL2兼容 (90% 的代码)，但是它和REBOL是不同的。 REBOL 是结实新语言, 而RED既可以解释运行，也可以编译为二进制代码.
